Connect to the opposition
Keeping close to those who oppose you is absolutely vital. Leaders must understand those who oppose them - and the reasons for their opposition. Without dialog with the opposition you cannot possibly find ways in which to "win your opposition over."
  1. First, identify your opposers. Who stands to lose the most from any planned changes?
  1. Next, consider the "stake" of your opposition. Why are they against you? What are some of the real reasons for their concerns? What threatens them? What would you do or feel in their place?
