Leaders need a vision. Without a vision, people cannot move in the same direction. Without a vision, people cannot dream of a better future.

Heifetz et al., however, alert us that visions must be based on reality. Leaders must develop a keen ability to interpret the situation, understand the forces impacting it, and build an achievable goal.
