The following questions could be asked of followers to facilitate a more accurate interpretation of the problem:
What is new and different about this situation? What haven't we faced before?
- What do the various stakeholders want? What could they fear?
- What losses may be negotiable? What can we afford to lose?
- What problems within this situation may be tackled using existing (technical) solutions? What problems require new and never tried solutions that are likely to cause some loss?
