One key lesson of the Big Bong is that a small part of a system does not make sense individually - it only makes sense combined with other parts.
Another key lesson is that when communications between parts of a system break down the whole system may break down.
Think of a network or web - each piece of the network is connected to the other piece. Break one of those connections and the network fails to work!
