Systems are tenacious!
Heifetz et al. suggest that systems are tenacious. Systems change slowly and resist change efforts. Heiftezt et al. say: "Systems are tenacious for a reason. It took a long time for them to develop into self-reinforcing systems. They would have perished already if they were not fit to thrive at least in yesterday's world. That they may be at risk today, lingering more than thriving does not diminish the extraordinary functionality of the adaptations they achieved to the challenges they faced in previous decades." (p. 50).
  1. In part, systems are tenacious because they are very complex. There are multiple elements to a system and each of these elements is interconnected with other elements!
  1. Your INDIVIDUAL Mission for this week is to attempt to identify various elements within the SYSTEM of your leadership case. Go to the next page for complete instructions and an example.
  1. You do not need to submit this assignment to me now - as with all other Individual Missions, just keep on working on this project until you hand everything to me at the end. However - please feel free to submit your piece to me for my feedback (or contact me if you get confused).
